When are laptops, TVs, and phones cheapest?

Electronics don't share one sale calendar. Each product runs on its own refresh cycle, and the discount follows the release rather than the season. Laptops are cheapest in August and September, when back-to-school promotions overlap with new-model launches. TVs bottom out in November around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, with a second window in January and February ahead of the Super Bowl. Phones follow Apple: late September through October, once the new iPhone pushes the outgoing model down.

Why does the model refresh matter more than the season?

Retailers discount hardest when the next generation is about to arrive and the current one still fills the shelves. That is why the strongest laptop and phone windows sit next to launch dates instead of on holiday weekends, and why waiting for a general sale can mean paying more than buying a current-generation model the week its replacement is announced.

Which month should you avoid?

December, across most of the category. The deepest cuts land in late November, and prices step back up once Cyber Monday is over and holiday demand does the work for the retailer.

What about game consoles in 2026?

Consoles are this year's exception. A global memory-chip shortage pushed PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo to raise hardware prices rather than cut them, so bundle deals around Black Friday and Cyber Monday — not falling list prices — are the realistic way to save.
